Instrument specific cables are typically just different in length, gauge, connector types and other aesthetic factors. For example, a "bass cable" may appear thicker for "big bass" signals, this has no practical use in the sound realm unless capacitance is altered. Most of these are simply clever marketing tactics by other manufacturers.
